Our day today started out CRAZY, just like anyone else who had to fly today. Before you know it, we're just going to have to start showing up at the airport with shorts, t-shirts, and flip flops. Props to everyone at Hartsfield-Jackson Airport. If anything, we got through the security line faster than usual. And our prayers go out for continued safety for everyone during this trying time...
Before I get to the details of the show, I enjoyed my first Pibb Zero today. It was pretty good. Problem was, I wasn't informed that the liquid ban also goes for beverages which were purchased from a Coke machine right next to the gate. So, I had to chug my first ever Pibb Zero (I even took a picture!). OK, on to the show.
We've been coming to the Indiana State Fair for several years now, and we've got some great memories. Our first ever show was back in '97 at a smaller stage that was kind of on the midway. We thought it would be really cool to buy black cowboy hats and wear them around the fair. All we got were blank stares. But you've got to love the Indiana Fair. Elephant ears, corn dogs, those little fried apple thingys. Mmmmm.
It was a great show tonight. On many levels, it was the best of the summer. We've tweaked our setlist a bit over the last couple of shows to include a certain theme song from a certain '80's TV show featuring a cool black car that drove by itself. And despite earlier rains which left a LOT of mud right in front of the stage, this crowd knew how to have fun. We shared the stage with Jars of Clay and Michael W. Smith. Jars was great - they played a bunch of songs from their new album, and let me tell you. It is going to be awesome. One song in particular, called "All My Tears" was a definitely the standout. And as I type this, Smitty is tearing up the stage. It's been fun doing some shows with some of our favorite artists this summer.
Tomorrow we head to Detroit, home of the most surprising team in major league baseball this year. And we'll be playing with Jars and Smitty again. Should be fun.
(On a side note, Jars of Clay have been leaders in their work in Africa the last couple of years through their foundation called Blood: Water Mission. Check out their blog to read about their latest Africa trip.)

here's some scary info....
On the heels of the critically unsuccessful "Dukes of Hazzard" and "Miami Vice" movies, now there's talk of a "Knight Rider" movie...

Hey Guys,
I interviewed Mac Powell recently. Just wanted to say it was a great interview. He mentioned you are all friends with Mike Sweeney of the Kansas City Royals. Go Royals!!! Needless to say, just wanted to let you all know, he's off the DL, in case you didn't know. He got a couple of big hits off Curt Schilling the other night in a win for the Royals. My wife Tabetha and I look forward to seeing you in Jacksonville in November. May God continue to protect you on the road, provide you with peace and comfort your families while you're away. Your Brother in Christ, Jeff Bryan (reporter, Citrus County Chronicle).

By that I hope you don't mean you've started playing "Jump In My Car." (TerribleBlogs.com)
