Abilene is the real Texas. In case we had any doubts about it, we were quickly reminded when we woke up to the sounds of a horse show going on outside our tour bus this morning. Mac, Scotty and myself celebrated our trip to West Texas by seeing 16 Blocks, starring Bruce Willis. It was a pretty good movie. One bit of trivia that happened on the way to the movie: Scotty heard himself on the radio. He produced and played piano on a Jeff Morris song which has apparently been getting some airplay.
The show tonight was easily our best we've ever had in Abilene. To cap off our authentic Texas experience, we performed in a rodeo. The crowd was great, and we all had fun. There was another big contingency of Gomers from both Texas and Oklahoma. In fact, most of them were at the Grand Prairie show as well. Other than a line or two of "Abilene" and (?) "Every Rose Has Its Thorn", our set was the same as last night. But that doesn't mean it was the same experience. Mac recognized that the Oscars were tonight and proceeded to hand out "awards" of his own throughout the evening, including Tai for Best Cowboy and our crew for Best Crew.
This was a great way to cap off a great week of shows. Now we have a few days off before heading to Albequerque Thursday. I'll check in with you then.

I went to the Third Day concert having only heard Third Day once or twice. I was suffering withdrawal symptoms from some methamphetamine I had done over the weekand, and I felt spiritually and physically lousy. However, as I started to listen to the music I began to feel God. I have only been saved about a month, and I totally felt the holy spirit that night in Abilene

Sounds like a great time. :) I have cousins near Abilene. I think the very first superwalmart I ever saw was in Abilene, and it was huge. I even videotaped it. LOL
Less than a week until it's my turn to be a crazy Gomer.

I laughed when I read about the horse show. Not good sounds and smells to wake up to on the road. Scary, but I think I recognize some of that art work.....
OK, I will color some pictures for you guys if you will just play Innocent in New York City.

I'm so not feeling the love. That "contingency" of Gomers had representatives from states other than Texas and Oklahoma. Show some love for us Louisiana and Tennessee Gomers, too!!!

There had been a circus there? Oh my. I hope it smelled better than the show y'all did in Springfield, MO, right after a circus had been there in 2002! No air conditioning, and you could still smell the elephants.
Texas loves Third Day!!!

I also adopted a kid tonight from World Vision-a little girl from Uganda and I am excited about that!!
I am also pumped to have a copy of the Invisible Children video-man, that will change your life and perspective. They showed it at ACU a few weeks ago, but not everyone was able to see it; so I am thankful to get my hands on a copy so I can continue sharing it. Thanks for supporting the project and for your heart for those children. God bless~

The concert was awesome!! You guys are one of the few bands that I had not seen yet, and it was worth the wait!! Thanks for coming to Abilene-it was a blessing to have you and Crowder here. Keep shinin' for the Lord-may He continue to bless you as you continue to allow Him to use you! :)

What a great show, as always. We drove in from San Angelo and my only disappointmenrt is that we didn't get to hear that song. The spirit was definitely in the room and could be felt by everyone. I have to ask though, once again, is San Angelo about our town or not? It drives the local Gomers crazy! Thanks guys for coming back. Hope to see you again, you are a huge part of my daily walk with Him. God bless you all.

Mark, thank y'all for coming to my hometown. Please come back again, but sooner than 3 1/2 years!
And FYI: "Abilene, Abilene" (or whatever that song is called) is not about Abilene, Texas. It's about Abilene, Kansas. ;) And if I had a dollar for every time someone has busted that song out when I've told 'em I'm from Abilene... :)
I loved the show. It was pretty awesome. So glad to hear "I Can Feel It" "Thief" and "Consuming Fire." I've looked forward to this, and impatiently waited, and it was well worth it. Thank you! You guys RoCK!
:) :) :)
