Mac summed it up nicely: "This wasn't the biggest night of the tour, but it was definitely the best." I can't quite put my finger on it, but there was a special feeling of excitement right from the start of the show. The place was packed, and they were ready for the show. It really hit us when we sat down to do the acoustic set. They went crazy. And at times you could even hear the singing over the band. One standout was a new arrangement of "My Hope is You" we worked up to conclude the show. It's really powerful to start the show with "Tunnel"'s lyric "I just want to give a little hope to you", and then end with "My Hope is You".
Of course, the night wasn't without its humor. Before "Keep On Shinin", we were sure to point out that the building we played in was recently named Iowa's Building of the Century. And our crew pulled off the first official prank of the tour during "Keep On Shinin'". I've been talking (pretty much nonstop) for the last couple of days about how we need a mirrorball like we had in Muncie. So during that song, they brought out a tiny, three inch mirrorball hanging from a microphone stand with a flashlight shining on it. We barely got through the song we were laughing so hard. BTW - if anybody happened to get a picture of that, please let me know...
Earlier today, the whole tour got together and had communion, led by Nigel James. It was a great experience for all of us to share in the Lord's Supper together. And Nigel's been leading us on a study around the words of "Cry Out to Jesus". Be on the lookout for that to be on thirdday.com down the road a piece.
Well, we're "officially" done with this run of tour dates. Tomorrow we go to Chicago to perform as part of the Next Generation Leadership Conference. No promises, but I'll do my best to check in sometime tomorrow. If not, we'll catch up in Lousiville...
Tonight's setlist:

Hello, I am Nathan Ehman. I am the stage manager and content capturer on the road. I want to bring you the "crew view" of what transpires on the road and our journeys around the world.
Thanks for coming to Ames! It was my first Third Day concert, although I've always been a big fan. Thanks for sharing about your daughter accepting Christ too. It stuck in my mind about you being a little skeptical at first, but that none of us really understand what the Lord has done for us. And a couple months after the concert we had a very similar experience with our son, who is 5 1/2. It was at bedtime and we all came upstairs to hear what he had just done. It was wonderful!

What an awesome experience of worship that was the most energetic/positive environment that I have been in for a concert. Becoming born again 3 years ago has been truly life transforming, but has not come without stumbling blocks at times also. Worship brings me close to God and I thank God that he shines through your band and your message. I was kind of bummed initially when we walked into Stephens because I thought we would have awesome seats (regular selfish thoughts) and then I saw that we were in the very last row of the second balcony, I was like dang. God showed me though that it doesn't matter where your at in a place as long as your worshipping the king, you feel like your in the first row. It was a great show and it gave me the energy I needed to get fired up even more about Christ and the life he wants each one of us to have and especially as a Godly man. I look forward to the journey and thank you for the wake up call to be a warrior for christ and be a man of god to family, friends, coworkers and especially my wife. Thank you and thanks for being real Mac at the end and sharing about your daughter, what a truth that we take for granted and think that as adults we know so much more than kids. Each one of us needs to have a faith more like your child who came to know the lord, praise God.
P.S. It would be an awesome live CD- I'd buy it.

Hey! THANK YOU so very very much for one of the most awesome experiences of my life! I am a recovering drug addict and the entire show moved me to tears, but lost it uncontrolably at the end with Cry Out To Jesus! It is something I will NEVER forget, and it is in God that I find my strength to live each day clean, and also your songs that lift my head up to Him and find joy and peace. Keep up the blessing that God has given to you all so that people like myself can have a light. Thanks for coming to Iowa, even though I came all the way from South Dakota to see 3D! ;-) Come back soon, as I will be singing with you (since we are all your new back up singers!!!) Thanks again, and God bless and keep you!

"My Hope is You" was the first 3D song I ever heard, and a sentimental favorite. I'm glad to hear that it might be back, hopefully until the California shows. I've always loved the live versions of this song and how you and Brad are "gettin' down" during certain parts!

My husband and i are coming to your concert in Dallas, for my birthday. We saw you in Orlando several years ago and were so overwhelmed by the presence of God that I thought the rapture might take place then and there! Anyways, I thought you might want to know that before we started dating 8 years ago, i listened to your song "my hope is in You" every day for about a month and prayed that somehow God would answer my prayers (it was love at first sight for me and he didn't have a clue!). God is so faithful, He did and I cannot thank you enough for such an amazing song. Any chance you'll play it in Dallas? We'd be so excited if you could!

I am stilled excited about the concert and it is two days later! I praise God for the awesome things He is doing through you! I brought my mom along for the concert and it was awesome for her to see the power God can have in our lives. It is always incouraging to rock out with a packed house of Christians! May God continue to bless you!
Love and Prayers!

What an amazing event! The spirit, the passion, the lyrics...invigorated me! I have been crying ever since! I thank God for bringing you to Iowa. I've always thought your music was good, but now it has so much more meaning, every verse I've heard makes me want to reach out, more and more to have a deep, powerful relationship with God. Thank you. May God continue to bless you. Stay healthy and travel safely.

Awesome show guys. My wife, boys (3 and 5), and I were front row almost-center. Big thank you to Mac and David for coming up and talking to our boys after the show. You are among their heroes. Mac, it meant so much to the boys (and my wife and I) that you made so much eye contact with them and recognized them for singing with you. It's all they've talked about all day. David, thanks for coming all the way back across the stage to talk to them. When we get out a 3D DVD, my kids get out their instruments. My oldest pretends he's Mac and my youngest pretends he's you. Thanks guys for being there to encourage their "Rock Star" aspirations.

It was my first time seeing 3D in concert, and I had a blast! My fiance, future father-in-law, sister-in-law, and brother-in-law all had a great time. We are all huge fans! We will be looking forward to another 3D concert soon! Hope to have 3D come back to Iowa!!! May God be with you through the rest of your tour.

You guys are blessed to be able to share such awesome gifts for ministry with the world (Come back to Iowa soon!). I listen to your music every day, and it connects with me in a way no other band can come close to (Come back to Iowa soon!). Tai’s heartfelt discussion about his experiences with World Vision delivered much more than a cursory endorsement (Come back to Iowa soon!). The audience was engaged in such an awesome way that you can be sure that your message is being heard and felt throughout our state (Come back to Iowa soon!). You are truly instruments of God’s awesome power. Thanks for worshipping with us. And, oh yeah… Did I mention? Please come back to Iowa soon!!!

I am so excited! Every day I read the boards to see what testimonies people share about the concert.
A side note to 3D- I am going to be at the Memphis show on March 3- I am driving 4 1/2 hours to attend this worship service. If you are looking to switchup your setlist- add Offering! It is by far the most moving song I have ever heard. It has been my favorite and moves me to tears to hear you sing of your offering to our Lord.
God bless you for your ministry!!

Great show! Thank you for coming to Ames! It wasn't *that* cold outside, was it?!
The mirror ball was pretty cool. Like Mac said, it was too small :-)
The concert was wonderful and uplifting. Praise God for your ministry.
