summer goal: Do nothing

6 more days of getting up at 6:15 to get the older kids ready for the bus at 7:00. Last baseball game on Saturday. Kids final performance of music machine on Sunday. What are we going to do when all the activities are done? Nothing, but intentional nothing. We're making concrete plans to do nothing. We are determined not to over commit ourselves this summer. We don't want to take too many trips. We don't want to have too many events. We want to just enjoy each other. Our main family goals are eating well and exercise.

Things we want to do: swim a LOT! jog a lot. Have neighborhood kickball games. Practice football and baseball. No kids will be allowed to disturb the parents prior to 8:00 A.M.

That sounds awesome! U totally deserve 2 do nothing 1000%! :-D

Good luck with that last one... 8 am is like waiting for the ice cream truck for little ones.

I envy you. I just finished our summer schedule, which took me months to orchestrate. I have it laminated and posted on the fridge. For working moms summer is almost dreaded. "Where will my kids be this week?" is always the question. We will have a fun summer, but it won't be near as carefree as yours. Enjoy!!!

It's great when kids can wake up and get their own breakfast isn't it? Enjoy your do nothing summer!

BTW...7 am for the bus!?! How far away is the school?

That sounds perfect to me!

Nothing sounds so good to me right now. I'm just trying to pull off a do nothing family day this weekend (only you can't call it a "family day" with teenagers).

Good Luck on the "No Disturbing before 8:00 a.m." especially with the younger ones !! ;)

I was in a Music Machine show 10 years ago in elementary school! Man did I have fun playing the kazoo...

Sounds like you need to do nothing for awhile! Enjoy it! Let us know how the whole "no disturbing parents before 8:00 a.m." works out! :)
