Tomorrow I head for Nashville, to meet up with the band for the annual Gospel Music Association conference.
I've been loads of times before, but not for the last couple of years, although this time is my first opportunity to be a speaker. I'm talking to heads of Christian radio about 'Identity'-something we studied as a band in our devotions recently. Thanks to the marketing team at Authentic, We are using GMA as the launch pad for the new book 'Lessons from the Road'. Here's an excerpt from the book, about the Christian music industry:
The Contemporary Christian Music scene often receives criticism for being a business, or for merely mimicking the mainstream music scene, or for attempting to create a parallel and ‘safe’ Christian culture away from the real world, and to a certain extent all of these observations carry some truth. Yet my experience also tells me that Christian music does transform lives, does communicate with people, does help seekers find faith and does build up the body of believers. It’s for those reasons that I do what I do with Third Day.

Music was integral in my learning to know Christ. It made perfect sense, music has always been such a huge part of my life so, music was going to be the way He chose that the Gospel would reach me and start me on my journey.
