MILITARY MATTERS.
Every so often in our devotional time I try to move the focus completely away from ourselves so that we can pray for other people. In our devotions at Sioux Falls we reminisced about our trip to Kuwait and Iraq, and remembered what a significant moment the tour was. Then we prayed for the US military, and specifically the chaplains, officers, non-commissioned officers, and enlisted soldiers that we had met. We also asked the Lord to give us wisdom as to how we can continue to minister into the military on US soil.
Looking through an army Bible that was given me in Iraq, I noticed prayers for fallen comrades, prayers for the dying, prayers for loved ones who are a long way away, and a suggested order for a worship service when you are on your own. These all reminded us of the exceptional circumstances that those in armed conflict face everyday, but that the rest of us rarely, if ever, experience.
As the mother of a son in Iraq this warms my heart. Scott left last week for his second tour of Iraq. He was kinda bummed that you and Third Day came before he got there again...you need to return! Thanks for praying...us moms appreciate it!
