As the band begin a series of 4 shows at House of Blues venues on the West Coast, I've recovered enough from some health issues to book my airline ticket to join them on the Spring tour starting in a couple of weeks time. As always, I'm praying for wisdom as to what to share in our devotional times- at the moment I believe the Holy Spirit is leading me towards the theme 'Issues that all men face'.
It looks like we'll be doing some promotional stuff at GMA for the book "Lessons from the Road" and to whet your appetite here's another little extract:
When a younger band comes to us for advice about becoming successful, I reply with what is often seen as a cliché but it is true and very important- build a fan base. Of course then they ask ‘how do we do that?’ and that’s the $64,000 question! The answer has to be to make music that people want to listen to and want to become a fan of. It’s important not to forget what attracts you to songs that you like, and what makes you become a fan of a band. Oftentimes it’s that catchy song that you keep on singing to yourself. We’ve been fortunate that since the start of Third Day we have had fans who genuinely like our music and believe that it speaks to them at a heart level. Even in those early days it wasn’t just our friends patting on the back saying ‘well done’, there were always a growing number of fans. I don’t know how to simply reproduce that for anyone else, but the relationship with our fans has always been vital to the success of Third Day
This wasn't written by me- but which band member did write it? Who do you think?
