Yet another incredible word that Chai has created and the source of today's adventures. We opted for the zoo today because the other choice was a hot tea tasting exhibition in an unairconditioned environment. With temperatures approaching 100 degrees and the humidity at nearly 100%, we decided that roughing it with the animals would be better. It was an wonderful time that we got to share with some new friends that we have made through this journey.
The first wildlife that we encountered were the loudest creatures I have ever heard. As we were walking up to the exhibit, we thought that people were calling out to the lemur like creatures, but we were wrong. It was the animals who were doing the calling and they sounded almost human. Crazy! Then we were able to see a Bengle Tiger splashing in his private pool. He, along with his friends the black panther, and jaguar, were impressive indeed. However, it was the next exhibit that really got our attention though. It was a ferocious Cocker Spaniel and Chihauhau! We couldn't believe our eyes. I thought we were at the animal shelter. These dogs needed rescued and adopted. Anyway, we made our way past the reptiles and birds, and took a break to get something to cool us down. Canaan had her first taste of ice cream and she was hooked. She ate the entire thing and then wanted more. She is definitely an Avery. After cooling down we headed to see the Panda Bear who pretty much ignored us the entire time. I thought he might be impressed, and stare at the caucasions like everyone else, but he wasn't. Truly people do stare at us over here. They are not discreet at all about letting you know that they are shocked to see you. Many times we felt like we were the zoo attraction today. Well, finally we made it to the monkeys which were the highlight of the day. I was able to take Chloe and Chai into their exhibit and feed them by hand. They were extremely friendly and would even jump onto your shoulders if you held the food up in the air high enough. We had a blast with them and decided that a pet monkey could be just the thing we need to add some excitement around our house. With four girls now, we could use a little more drama in our lives, don't you think?
Just wanted to say thank you for inviting us along on this journey. I've been googling the locations and been overwhelmed by the beauty .... and that's just from the pics!!
I also wanted to let you know that your family has been on the prayer warrior list with us Gomers. We may not post comments too often but know that we've been putting in lots of "face time" for you. Hedges of protection especially with the politcal climate there. We got your back (and your front) covered.
May He continue to hold your family in the palm of His hand.

Hello Averys! Our little Caleb is hooked on Ice Cream too! If I buy Elijah one, Caleb notices and he HAS to have one too, or I am in BIG trouble! HAHA
It warms my heart that Canaan loved ice cream. To me that shows a little hint that internally (not physically), she is doing ok...
Our friends adopted from Taiwan and little Joseph was much like Canaan, in regard to firsts and responding to people. Know that it will all be ok. If there is a problem, God will raise it and bring it to your attention. And with so many of us loving and praying for you all and especially little Canaan, you can rest knowing that God has heard and everything is under control.
I am thrilled that God has given this precious little child to you and i know that you are the perfect family and the exact family whom God intended for her. I hope you can take comfort in that.
Much love from the Youngs who all pray for you and love you all very much.
PS. Ahh Brad, how do y'all pronounce Canaan?

I think the one thing I most miss about having grown children is a trip to the zoo. I still love it as an adult, but it's not the same as going with a child. The monkeys sound like fun, but I've heard they are pretty challenging as pets, messy and naughty even. LOL And I used to think my house was a zoo. ;)
Anyway, I knew about the adoption, but had forgotten there was a blog, so I am playing catch up. It's so good to hear that you all are are doing well and adjusting. It sounds like this will be a memorable and special time for everyone. Canaan is precious and gorgeous, and blessed. God has placed her right where she needs to be and I have no doubt that you will learn much from each other.
Thanks for sharing.

Oh, but did you see the dalmation and the deer?
Seriously - we just got home from our second China Adventure on Saturday and the zoo was just about hilarious! And the humidity?! I am glad that you get the joy of that experience... The heat ANYWHERE in the States won't seem nearly as bad after that.
Many blessings on your precious Canaan...

a pet monkey???? Am I the only one that noticed the dripping sarcasm as far as the "excitement" comment? You're already up to the elboes in diapers as it is .... maybe you should buy stock in "Huggies"
4 girls now??? Hope you have your sword nice and polished hanging above the door ....
